Confirmed: Jennifer Lopez Is Vacationing In Hawaii With Toy Boy Casper Smart

Well well now … yesterday we learned that Jennifer Lopez was RUMORED to be on holiday in Hawaii with her much younger toy boy Casper Smart but at the time there was no photographic evidence that the pair were holidaying together. Today we learn unequivocally that J. Lo and Casper — Jasper, if you will [...]

So … let me tell you about my favorite holiday ever — Black Friday. See, while everyone else and their mother is out shopping at all hours of the day and night fighting with one another for bargain deals, I tend to stay indoors warm and cozy doing absolutely nothing. You see, out here in the wilds of Connecticut, there ain’t much to do anyway … so for the most part, relaxation is the only thing on the menu. And boy, did I indulge yesterday.

I can’t say that I was totally unproductive. I spent a bit of time yesterday afternoon going thru my massive iTunes music library and upgrading all of my low quality 128kbps mp3 files to high quality files from the iTunes store. iTunes Match, which only costs $24.99 a year, makes it easy to replace most of your low quality files with higher quality, better sounding files. Of course not everything in my library is upgradable and the matching process is not perfect (I’d say about 8% of my files were not able to be matched for upgrade even tho they should deffo be eligible) but for what iTunes Match offers already, it’s well worth the cost. I was a bit mortified to find that some of my favorite albums were encoded at a measly 128kbps. Now, most of them are at the higher quality format they deserve.

Another bit of good news to pass along. It turns out that I am taking David’s sister Eden to see The Cure in NYC tomorrow night:

She was so jealous to hear of the Cure show in LA last Monday that we decided to look for tickets. Thankfully, we found a great pair for a very reasonable price so … I’m gonna get to see The Cure again! I’ll have seen the first LA show and the last NYC show — the first and last shows of the only US dates they are doing this tour. I am very excited.

I’m thinking tonight will be another quiet night. David is going to his high school reunion and I will, most likely be going to bed early :) Happy Saturday, y’all!!

DIY Music Tour Part I

There are plenty of people who have picked up a guitar and after a few weeks quit practicing because they expected it to be easy. I don't want to put you off playing the guitar as it is a great instrument to learn and will reward you if you stick with it. The reason people quit is they feel they're not making any progress and it can feel that way sometimes.

How To Make A Good Sub Bass

Some of my friends love them, most of my friends hate them, whether you like it or not, Muse is one of the biggest rock bands in the world, and they wouldn't have come this far without some great music, so if you are new to the band and need to find the best Muse songs to get on your iPod, or you are a die-hard fan and you want to check out if you agree on the list (or be completely outraged by how wrong I am), here are my Top 5 Muse songs: 5. When he isn't venting - then quitting - Twitter, Chris Brown is still trying to put out some good music.

This one right here the first lead single off his album, Fortune, which is due out next month. Strip also features rapper Kevin McCall and was produced by The Bizness.

What is really a shame is that all the crap in his life clouds the fact that he does punch out good music. What's not a shame is that his music doesn't excuse him from all the crap he pulls.

Here, for your listening pleasure, is Breezy's latest, Strip. (above)

The Muppets Are Going To The White House

Jason Segel and Kermit the Frog are taking their antics to the 1600 Pennsylvania ave!!
No, this isn't their next movie, though we'd love to see Kermit as president (on screen or in real life). The stars are set to attend a special screening The Muppets, for a group of military families.

"I think people should take Perez Hilton’s lead. He used to be really mean to some celebs on his site PerezHilton.com, but he took it on himself to realize that while he was trying to stop bullying, he was still bullying himself. He did a really great and courageous thing by turning around his entire site and brand to stop bullying. He could have lost a lot of readers by changing his site all the way around, but that proved he was really serious about stopping bullying, and I think he’s a great influence when it comes to that. He took the initiative to stop something even if it could have been at the risk of his own career.”

Anne Hathaway Surfaces At The Occupy Wall Street Movement

The Occupy Wall Street movement is still in full swing not only in NYC but in cities and countries around the globe. At this week’s protest in Union Square in NYC, actress Anne Hathaway was spotted in the crowd of protestors. Like actor Penn Badgley and rapper Kanye West before her, Anne felt — for [...]

Superstar DJ Samantha Ronson was spotted out and about this week … on a playdate with a friend and the friend’s little daughter. Now, it’s not uncommon to see celebs playing with kids at the park but I don’t think that we’re used to seeing Sam lookin’ all cute in playdate mode. I am used to seeing Samantha rockin’ out behind the DJ decks, smirking for the camera … but with babe in arms? It’s a new look for her … and I really like it :D

Aww … Sam looks like a natural. Clearly her little friend is having a blast in these photos. This is a side of Samantha Ronson I’d love to see more of. So cute, right?

Mariah Carey teamed up with European wireless provider Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile here in the US) to surprise the folks in Poland, Crotia and Macedonia with a short impromptu holiday music concert that was streamed LIVE across the Eastern European countries. In all, Mimi performed 4 songs including her smash holiday hit All I Want for Christmas is You. Click below to watch the entire 20 minute mini-concert in full and get a taste of what the lucky folks in Europe got to experience this week.

This is pretty neat. And considering Mariah will be featured in holiday ads for Deutsche Telekom this Xmas, it makes sense that they would want to kick off the campaign in this big splashy way. I kinda like how Mariah is projected like a hologram … tho, I’d be more impressed if her likeness was being projected from an R2-D2 unit ;) This is a fun little mini-concert. I’m glad we get to see it too.

Operatic and Classical Music in Dublin

Listening to Youth Lagoons new album The Year of Hibernation, released September 27, 2011, you will hear dream pop at its best with deep emotion and fuzzy guitar rifts. This shouldn't be surprising. It is. Why? Because Trevor Powers is all of 22 years old. Talented well beyond his years, Powers has taken the lo-fi tracks on The Year of Hibernation and produced a sound that is sensitive and addicting. His whistles and soft tones sound as if they are speaking to us from somewhere within our subconscious minds.

Vocal Warm Up Exercises Are Extremely Important

In the mid 1800s Thomas Edison created the first phonograph, which allowed for the first time recording and playback of sound. Even though there is no direct evidence that it was based on the design, the phonautograph had come out not much before but only permitted waveforms to be recorded. He first experimented utilizing tin foil wrapped around a cylinder since it is easily imprinted and maintains the grooves.

Schoenberg A Survivor From Warsaw

While most identify 1964's "California Sun" with the Rivieras (from sun-drenched South Bend, Indiana), the song originated with New Orleans R&B singer Joe Jones, who is known for his Top Ten hit, "You Talk Too Much." Jones recorded "California Sun" in an R&B style backed by a horn section but met little success. The Rivieras replaced Jones' horn section with a guitar and organ trading riffs and reached #5 with the track. "California Sun" was covered in 1977 by punk rock pioneers the Ramones, who added distortion and amped up the speed of the Rivieras' track.

Reasons Why Most People Prefer To Listen To Mixtapes

The 80's weren't a great time for the piano in rock. Synthesizers had grown up and were dominating everything. The piano was a keyboard that could make one sound while a synthesizer could make thousands so our friend the piano took a back seat to it's offspring in the 80's. The piano wasn't totally ignored though, it got an unlikely boost from a guitar band, and creative keyboardists were still keeping the old boy around as part of the arsenal of keyboards. Here are some hits from the New Wave 80's that feature the piano.

Stirring Wayne Watson Songs A Challenge to Us

I was thinking about the many articles I have seen on harmonicas and realized there is a topic that has not been given the attention many other topics have. There is so much written about what instrument to choose, how to begin to play it, how to blow and draw air through it, how to bend notes and on and on. But what about how to care for and maintain your harmonica. Care and maintenance should really be one of basics.

Guitar Strings Buying In Bulk

It is worth noting that due to the introduction of iPods and advanced computers the use of DVDs and CDs has reduced considerably. What has contributed most to this change is because with these latest developments in the music industry you will not need to have additional software to make it work. This is the reason why most people have opted to listen to mixtapes as long as you have an audio player whose memory matches the player.

Bruckner Symphony No. 0

Arnold Schoenberg (1874 - 1951) wrote this work as a string sextet at the turn of the 20th century in 1899, and it was so modern that the Vienna Music Society refused to perform it. It was premiered in 1902 by the Rose Quartet (augmented by an extra cello and viola) at the Vienna Musikverein. Between the highly chromatic music and its subject matter, the piece stirred up a lot of controversy.

Celebrity Birthdays Today: Kaley Cuoco, Sandra Oh, Ben Stiller More!

November 30th. Wow. This month has flown by, hasn’t it? In today’s edition of Celebrity Birthdays, ‘The World’s Oldest Teenager’ turns 82, ‘Benson’ is 82 and Season 2′s American Idol runner-up is 33. Guess who? Happy Birthday, Sandra Oh! The “Grey’s Anatomy” actress is 41 years old today. So what’s the latest with Oh and her castmates on GA? Will they all be returning for a ninth season? I am hoping they will, even though we’ve heard grumblings that Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo would not be renewing their contracts when the 8th season ends in May. We will find out soon enough! Happy Birthday, Kaley Cuoco! ‘The Big Bang Theory” actress is 26 years old today. The former “8 simple rules” star became engaged last month to Josh Resnik but no word yet on when their nuptials will take place. While I’m happy for her, it’s too bad her ‘secret’ relationship with ‘Big Bang Theory’ co-star Johnny Galecki did not pan out. Happy Birthday, Ben Stiller! The actor is 46 years old today. Stiller just wrapped up work on “He’s Way More Famous Than You”, which was directed by former “Ugly Betty” star Michael Urie. No word yet on [...]

Yesterday was a pretty long yet very uneventful day for me. Altho it was the “busiest travel day of the year”, David and I were blessed with ZERO delays. The day started out pretty well … we ran into True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello in the Delta airport lounge. The rest of the day, tho, was really uneventful. But we made it to Connecticut safe and sound … ready for the Thanksgiving holiday.

It is COOOOLD here but it’s nice to be with David’s family. Thanksgiving dinner will be starting soon so it’s gonna be a short day of blogging for me.

I’d like to take this opportunity to express how thankful I am for each and every one of you. I am so blessed to have the best readers … and as I say all the time, I’m sure I’d be friends in real life with every single one of you if we ever were to meet ;) I hope you are having a great day today, Thanksgiving or not. Survivor Episode 10 Recap, Another Double Elimination

We begin our recap of Episode 10 of Survivor South Pacific on Night 24. First, we join Jim as he arrives at Redemption Island. There, he tells Keith and Ozzy about the latest outrages of super-nerd Cochran. He also bemoans how Coach Ben Wade is in full control of the Upolu Tribe like some cult leader. Speaking of Coach, upon returning from Tribal Council, Coach tells the Te Tuna tribe that Jim was the most dangerous person around due to the mistrust and disharmony he spread. Coach added that he would like the tribe to unify, even including Dawn and Whitney, as they have nothing to fear. But Whitney isn′t buying one ounce of it! Coach Ben Wade seems to be in full control now on Survivor South Pacific. Image Credit: Wenn.com. Day 25 at Te Tuna and we find Cochran joining Coach in his morning Tai Chi exercises. Cochran is just playing up to Coach, who confesses to Cochran that he is worried about Albert and Brandon acting rashly. This makes Cochran nervous, which is normal. He gets the willies just from seeing his own shadow! Time for the Redemption Island Duel. Its another balancing challenge, where each must [...]

Arts and Entertainment from EzineArticles.com

The time is coming when our thoughts turn to Christmas and what to give our loved ones as presents. In this time of recession it might be a time you could well do without. However, each and every year it comes around faster and more expensive than ever. That said there are many things you can make at home for next to nothing. These could be in the form of Christmas cards, decorations or presents. Crafting books at the best prices, naturally, are an ideal way to start saving this Christmas.
