Pedal Board Flight Cases

Classical acoustic guitar is the most popular string instrument in the world. If you want to buy it, you will have plenty of choices. However, you should be very careful while choosing this instrument, because it is not so easy. The most important thing is to test the guitar before you pay for it. Firstly, you need to estimate the look of the guitar. Secondly, you should select a guitar of good size, quality and tone.

Cultivating Creativity Part II

When learning how to draw a face you need to understand the structure, proportions and the various parts that make up that face. Before I offer you some kind of guideline for the structure, proportions and the various parts of the face, I need to make it clear, that whilst it is really important to get a good understanding of the components that make up the face, it is not an exact science by any means. If you have ever researched the topic you'll know what I mean, you'll find there is a lot of conflicting information and many offering some kind of proof to back up their own particular theory. I am sure no one is deliberately trying to mislead us of course; I believe it is because humans are very diverse beings and there are just so many variables to take into account.

William and Kate: Wedding of the Year Details!!

Prince William and Kate Middelton will marry in just a few short hours and it is all anyone can talk about! It is understandable, the couple is hosting the event of the decade! The big day is just around the corner, Kate Middleton will soon marry her Prince and an estimated 2 billion people from around the world will watch, while 1900 invited guests will be in the church. It is being called the wedding of the year, but it is so much more than that. It is the wedding of the decade! I have butterflies for Kate, so I can imagine how the future Princess feels. Speaking of Princess I bet you are wondering how the titles work and what will change once she officially marries into the Royal family. I know I was curious! Here is how it works: Once married, Kate will become Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales, though the media will inaccurately shorten her title to Princess Catherine, a title that is legally reserved for Princesses of birth. Additionally, upon marriage, royal men receive a title as a gift, and it is expected that William will be named a Duke. According to The Daily [...]

Home Karaoke Some Technical Terms You Should Get To Know

James Taylor was born 12 March 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts, the second of five children, to a father who practiced medicine and a mother who trained as an opera singer. Taylor was to become one of the biggest stars to emerge from the late 60s / early 70s folk-rock phenomenon, a more soulful practitioner than such earthier, troubadour predecessors as Woody Guthrie or Bob Dylan.

The Three James Taylor Songs I Would Have At My Funeral

The son of a musician and bandleader, Elvis Costello has had a hugely varied career in popular music, characterised by a mixture of high critical praise and fluctuating commercial fortunes. The artist, christened Declan Patrick McManus, came to prominence in 1977 when he signed to the fledgling Stiff Records label, home to Wreckless Eric, Madness and the inimitable Ian Dury.

Kristen Wiig Has Retired ‘SNL’ Characters Gilly Penelope

Sad news for fans of Kristen Wiig‘s characters on Saturday Night Live … she reveals in a new interview with Time magazine that she has retired her SNL characters Gilly and Penelope. Yesterday was a totally chilled out day. Plans to hang out last night got pushed back to Wednesday and that left me with a very sunny and hot day here in LA to enjoy all by myself. I have just started to recover from my illness of late so it was nice to just relax and chill out … in the heat ;)

I got out of the house for a bit to soak up some sun, which was really nice. I toyed with the idea of hanging out at the beach but the traffic was a huge deterrent. I really just laid low, kept my Monday pretty simple. Tonight, tho, I am SO excited to FINALLY get to see Thor! I’ll be seeing the movie at a screening tonight and I’m just way too excited. Popcorn, candy and the god of Thunder? Yes, please!!

Happy Tuesday!!

My Own James Taylor Music Appreciation Society

I've been collecting books about The Beatles since my early teens, and I'm now nearing the age of 50, although I admit my trawl of Beatle-related volumes has diminished in the last ten years or so. However, I find it almost therapeutic to revisit some of those Beatles books I grew up poring over and I'd like to recommend five from my collection that I can safely class as being amongst the favourites of all the Beatles books I own.

How to Distribute Your Music Online

The Beatles are well-documented; little is left to note about them. Mention of their name recalls specific imagery and memories for many, and it is very possible that they were the most important group to emerge from the rock and roll movement. In the 1960's, Beatlemania swept multiple nations and captured the attention and consciousness of an entire generation.

Things to Take Note Of When Buying Sonic Producer

When musicians talk about "jamming" together, it usually means that a bunch of players get together with their instruments and talents and just start playing to see what happens. These musicians may or may not have ever played together before. Bands like The Grateful Dead and Pearl Jam have taken the concept of the musical jam to new heights with long solos that go wherever the players feel like taking them at the moment. But these bands certainly can't be credited with inventing jam music. Jam music has been around for a long time and even rockabilly music has been highly influenced by the jam phenomenon.

Simon van Kempen’s single ‘I Am Real’ is Hilariously Awful

Apparently trying to follow in the footsteps of ‘The Countess,’ fellow RHONY star Simon van Kempen has released what is being called a ‘single.’ Much to my complete satisfaction, the song is about as awkward and out of touch as the man himself. Yes, folks, I absolutely love it when D-listers like Simon and LuAnn make complete fools out of themselves trying to dabble in the music business. LuAnn’s track ‘Money Can’t Buy You Class’ was the most hysterically ironic attempt at writing meaningful lyrics ever. We all know that in the caste-less society of America, it ACTUALLY WAS her money that earned her a spot in the upper crust. As if that little gem wasn’t enough, her co-star Simon is offering up some sort of ridiculous dance track meant to defend how ‘real’ he is – just in time for the new season of the show. This little ditty even makes ‘Tardy For The Party’ sound good. From the production to the vocals, it’s a complete disaster. Simon’s singing is delivered through a heavy filter, which puts a nasty echo on his voice like some sort of cheesy 80s synth-pop track. Then there’s the actual content of the lyrics. [...]

Sarah Jessica Parker Celebrates Mother’s Day Weekend With The Fam

It’s been a few months since we’ve checked in with Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick and their beautiful children so what better time to see how the family is doing than on Mother’s Day weekend! When last we saw photos of the twin girls Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, the little ones were not [...]

Yesterday was a very bizzy, very full, VERY FUN day for David and me. In the afternoon, we were invited to our friends Tom and Patrick’s home for their Kentucky Derby party where we got to eat, drink and be merry with a group of their friends. Last night, David and I made our way to The Forum in Inglewood, CA for my 6th Prince concert of his 21 Nite Stand residency here in LA. ‘Twas a fantastically fun and surprisingly profitable day for the two of us :D Read below for the deets.

Along with food, drink and comradery, there was also betting available at Tom & Patrick’s party. I put my money on the horses Pants on Fire and Watch Me Go … neither of which were even close to winning. David put his money on Comma on Top … at first. Before the race started, I noticed that no one bet on Animal Kingdom … so I told David, who was standing by the betting wall, to put some money on Animal Kingdom … he did and we won $100! I am not a gambling man … but winning the pot of cash yesterday gave me some keen insight as to why gamblers like to gamble ;)

After the party, we rested for a bit before hittin’ the road to see Prince in concert again:

What can I say … another fantastic show. Former Pussycat Doll and soon-to-be X Factor host Nicole Scherzinger was a nice surprise and Adam Lambert got brought up on stage to do some dancing with His Purple Majesty. Last night was one of those shows where the encores just kept coming. I’d say 80% of the audience left before the absolute finale encore at the very end. Here is the full setlist from last night’s show …

David and I had a BLAST! Thus far, I have 6 of Prince‘s 21 shows under my belt … and I’m planning on being in attendance for the 3 new shows coming up next weekend. It is a CRAZY privilege to get to see Prince perform so many shows like this. I was so jealous that London got to enjoy 21 nights of Prince a few years ago … I’m gonna do my best to attend every show possible :D

Tonight, I’m meeting up with Darion and Sebastian to see Thor in IMAX 3D again … I enjoyed the film so much, I can’t wait to see it again.

The world premiere of the new Disney action film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides took place on Main Street inside Disneyland in Anaheim, CA last night and a veritable who’s who of big name celebs were in the hizzy for the main event. Among the biggest stars in attendance was Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and others. Oh yeah, there were some Hollywood celebs at the event as well. Click below to check out some photos of Pirates stars Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz and Geoffrey Rush with some of their celeb friends at the premiere event last night.

And with last night’s premiere we officially enter the home stretch until the film’s release. I will be seeing a preview screening of Pirates very soon and I am really excited to see what kind of trouble Captain Jack Sparrow gets into this time around. It seems like only yesterday when we were first hearing about the start of filming production for this movie last Summer … now, here we are, just days away from the film’s release. The premiere looked like it was a blast … I love that Natalie Maines brought the family out for the event … and it’s always a pleasure to see Eliza Dushku and Rick Fox at any event. Oh and I gotta say … I am LOVING Johnny Depp with his shorter hair. He really looks ready to film his cameo for the planned 21 Jump Street movie that is currently in production. But that’s another movie for another time. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will open in theaters on May 20 … are you ready?

Piano Restoration Facts: Four Compelling Reasons to Have Your Piano Restored

It's a fact that the brain will in different states have different predominant frequencies. Music can have strong influence over the frequencies that dominate the brain. For example frequencies around 10 hertz will put your brain in the alpha state where you feel alert but relaxed you may be feeling like you're in a bit of a daydream. These days you can get music that is designed to help you guide your brain to different predominate frequencies.

Cheap Electric Guitars How Can I Effectively Care For Them?

Guitar effects pedals come in a wide variety but the fact is that most guitar effects are just variations on four basic themes: Distortion, Dynamics, Reverb/Delay, and Pitch Modulation. They also come in a variety of configurations which were initially, single effects built into pedals, called stomp boxes, which grew into multi-effects processors built into both floor pedals, rackmount, and tabletop units. Many also include drum machines and headphone jacks for practice purposes.

Last night David and I made our way to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway to see the new musical Catch Me If You Can. Altho I had not seen the film, I was very anxious to see this show because one of my favorite Broadway actresses, Kerry Butler, stars in the show. I was only marginally familiar with the story so I hoped that seeing it cold would be entertaining. For the most part, I thought the show was OK … but, unfortch, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or upbeat as I was hoping.

The staging, set design, costumes and overall look of the show are really it’s strongest assets. You can tell that a lot of thought about the time period went into the staging and production of the show. The overriding problem for me was the story … the long, drawn out … not very exciting story. You’d think that a show with an exciting title like Catch Me If You Can would be upbeat, sexy and feature lots of action and showy dance numbers. Sadly, that is not the case. Most of the story in Act I was just rattled off in dialogue … there weren’t too many catchy numbers to sing along to. Of the songs in the show, I couldn’t even remember any of them after the show was over … well, except for one song. Kerry Butler belts out a showstopping number (Fly, Fly Away) at the very end of the show that is THE best song of the show. I was very surprised, tho, that Kerry isn’t featured AT ALL in the entire first Act … and she is billed as the female lead. Thankfully, Act II picked up considerably and manages to save the show from being a total snooze but as a whole … the show only ends up “OK”. That being said, I’m very glad I got to see the show and did enjoy myself, for the most part. I will say that Catch Me If You Can isn’t a show that I would ever feel the need to see again and it’s not a show that I would call a Must See. Lead actor Aaron Tveit is fine in his role as Frank Abagnale, Jr. but for me the real star of the show is Norbert Leo Butz who plays FBI agent Carl Hanratty. He was the best actor/character in the show. David and I had fun but we’ve seen better shows. If you’re a fan of the Catch Me If You Can story, this show might be for you … otherwise, you may be a bit disappointed by the show’s lack of real excitement.

Last night, David and I attended a performance of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in downtown LA and I am happy to report that the show was utterly and powerfully incredible. I’ve only heard the best things about Alvin Ailey shows and I was so pleased to learn that everything I heard turned out to be true. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ailey‘s masterpiece Revelations, that particular piece was performed last night … along with new and older pieces. It was truly a night to remember.

Our program last night featured the Ailey performance pieces Anointed (2010), The Evolution of a Secured Feminine (2007), The Hunt (2001) and Revelations (1960). We were also shown a film titled Celebrating Revelations at 50 which featured interview footage of Alvin Ailey and performance footage of Revelations over the past 50 years. It never occurred to me that a dance program could be so moving but I was literally swept away by the majesty performed on stage last night. Dance is just magic … it can just wash away everything else around you and completely overtake your mind, soul and body. I don’t know how I managed to stay in my seat the entire time but by the time the audience stood up for the standing ovation at the end of the performance, I was DYING to jump up and dance around. David and I had the best time ever … it’s a date that I will remember for the rest of my life :)

Plans for tonight … an early showing of Scream 4 (can’t wait) and then a concert performance by Janet Jackson! It’ll be the first time I’ve ever seen her live so … I am excited!! Woot!! Happy Friday!! Happy Weekend.
